Powerhouse Acting At RVP! You Don’t Want to Miss “The Tin Woman”

Whether you go to theater at Ross Valley Playhouse for laughs, lifting your spirit, drama, or pure enjoyment, this production has it all!  Written by Sean Grennan, The Tin Woman as directed by Michael Barr combines pathos and pleasure with superb acting by an excellent cast: Ellen Brooks (Alice, the lovely, down-to-earth, sometimes rude, wife to Jack (all-around powerful performance by Keith Jefferds) and Mother to Sammy (who was the marvelous school teacher, performed by Isabelle Grimm, a natural comedienne) and to Hank (Jesse Lumb), the charismatic and caring heart donor; Joanna Cretella (excellent as Joy, the curious and diplomatic recovering heart recipient); and Sumi Narendran Cardinale (as Darla, the wonderful, persistent, and hilarious nurse to Joy).

Costuming was perfectly designed for each character by Michael Berg.  The Lighting was appropriate throughout, as designed by Ellen Brooks.  The excellent Property Design, by Dhyanis, was wonderfully placed, adding character to each scene and bit, easily played-up by each actor. Though Clint Bajakian’s Sound Design mostly allowed for the full power of each scene, the staging of so much dialogue at the dining room table (upper center stage) was such that some of it was difficult to hear.  Carefully-modulated individual microphones would resolve that difficulty.  The individual set designs (by Ron Krempetz) and set construction (by Michael Walraven) for each scene were understated and so well-thought-out there was no clutter.  The Production Manager, Maureen O’Donoghue, and Stage Manager, Maureen Scheuenstuhl, deserve kudos for making everything flow so well throughout the performance.
