MELISSA O’KEEFE AT FEINSTEINS’S IN THE HOTEL NIKKO

Melissa O’Keefe made her third appearance  at Feinstein’s in the Hotel Nikko on July 27 before a sold out crowd of her enthusiastic fans.  I saw this extremely talented singer in “One A Clear Day” recently at the New Conservatory Theatre Center. This was a great night of singing with her guests of eclectic songs from Broadway and pop standards.  This artist has a vibrant voice that sounds like Idina Menzel with a little of Ethel Merman vocal cords thrown in.

Melissa O’Keefe opened the show with Jamie Cullum upbeat song “When I Get Famous’ and segued into Sam Carner & Derek Gregor “I’ll Take It All” that was down and dirty and then with her energetic vocal cord went into Frank Wildhorn & Jack Murphy “Big Time”.

This artist rocked when singing the hilarious “Die Vampire, Die” from Jeff Bowen’s “Title of Show” along with guest stars Caitlin O’Leary and Glen Riggs chiming in.   She continued on her own with “Your Heart Is a Black as Night” and she shined singing “I’m A Star”. Melissa shared the stage with the ever popular Tom Reardon in “The Lady Is a Tramp” Both were harmoniously energizing.  She was brassy singing “Popular” from “The Wicked” followed by “Rich Girl”

O’Keefe then shared the stage with guest star Jessica Coker and both were melodiously vitalizing. Jim Amber came up on stage and they all rocked “9 to 5”. Jim Amber stayed on stage and they beautifully sang “Total Eclipse of the Heart”.  Jim Amber hammed it up while Melissa sang “If (you Hadn’t, But You Did). She was thematic resonance in singing “Peel Me A Grape” and “God Only Knows”.   O’Keefe was powerful singing “Bridge Over Troubled Water” with Tom Reardon and she belted out “Big Finish” Tom Reardon sounded like High Jackson singing this song.   For an encore the whole cast came up on stage to rock “Broadway Here I Come”

Melissa O/Keefe was ably back up by Erin Allen on keys, Dave Moescher on piano, Russ Gold on drums and Daniel Fabricant on base.
